Dima Filippov
To Your Side (2025)

Double-channel video

Excerpt, 1 min 45 sec.

V–A–C Sreda online magazine completes its three-month programme dedicated to air in art and culture. In this issue, we present a work by Dima Filippov, an artist who explores the relationship between people and landscape in his practice.

In Filippov’s artistic practice, the horizon is less a visual accent than a tool for studying a particular place and its local identity—where geography, economy, and culture intertwine. In his To Your Side video work, the gaze moves from the artist’s native Altai Krai to the village of Elton in the Volgograd region, then further west to the state of Texas. The shimmering interplay of close-ups and wide shots, filled with air and light, invites the viewer to explore their own position within space.
