V–A–C Sreda online magazine completes its three-month series of podcasts dedicated to the place, role, and transformation of sound in contemporary art and everyday life.
In this episode, we present a work by composer and improviser Vladimir Gorlinsky, created using the spectralism technique. The work is based on madrigals—polyphonic vocal pieces—by the Italian Renaissance composer Carlo Gesualdo, which Gorlinsky has significantly slowed down. The special “stretching” in the music reveals harmonies and rhythms that elude the listener when it is played at a faster tempo.
For full submersion, we recommend using headphones.
