Take a Pause: Dances in the Air

V–A–C Sreda online magazine continues its three-month programme dedicated to air in art and culture.

In this episode, we discuss air in contemporary dance. What do freedom and empathy mean in this context? How does air shape the choreography? What lies behind the fear of stillness? And why is costume one of the most crucial elements of a performance?

V–A–C Sreda editor Maxim Shibaev discussed these and other questions with Sasha Rudik, a director-choreographer, holder of an MA in Choreographic Arts, and founder of the Bereg contemporary dance platform; Anastasia Nefedova, a theatre and film artist, and creative producer of the Event. Theatre. Performance course at the HSE Art and Design School; and Irina Ivannikova, a media artist, performer, and educator.
