House of Culture to Music Market: The History of DK Gorbunova transformation

The Gorbunova House of Culture, popularly known as ‘Gorbushka‘, is a concert venue in Moscow that has undergone a unique chain of transformations: from a soviet DK (Russian abbreviation for Dom Kultury, a House of Culture) for aircraft factory workers to a cult hotspot for the Moscow underground youth scene, and finally – to the biggest multimedia market in Europe. Together with music critic Artemiy Troitsky, music entrepreneur and promoter Igor Tonkikh, senior research associate at the Museum of Moscow Denis Romodin and former Editor-in-Chief of MixMag Ilya Voronin, we discuss the history of this cult city space.
