From May 20–23, Kazan will host AWAZ — a music festival with a post-traditional approach. The line-up includes many musicians who use contemporary artistic means to reinterpret local and ethnic themes and motives. At the request of V–A–С Sreda, Alexander Levin, press secretary of the festival, has compiled a mix of music, most of which you have probably never heard before: Tatar trip-hop, Udmurt dance electronica with traditional instruments, Slovenian mystical ethnica, and more.
