A Museum of Oneself: Family Portrait

V–A–C Sreda online magazine continues its three-month series of podcasts dedicated to unusual museums in Russia in collaboration with the “Zapovednik” project.

In this episode, we talk about memory and family history. How is the Museum of the Yakovlev Family in the town of Kineshma organised? Why should one restore one’s family tree? What is the revision tale and what are ego-documents? And is it really true that everyone can open a museum named after themselves?

These and other questions are discussed by Maksim Shibaev, an editor at V–A–C Sreda, Maria Murashova, the founder of the Yakovlev Family Museum, and Ivan Koryakin, a journalist and author of the “Genealogy” channel.
