Audio File 1: Ilya Kapitonov

V–A–C Sreda online magazine completes its three-month programme devoted to space and its reflection in the culture, art, and utopian dreams of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. The sound artist Ilya Kapitonov has prepared an electroacoustic composition in which space is viewed as a dichotomy of order and chaos especially for this final episode in the series.

Over the course of the musical composition, the amplitude of the sound frequencies slowly increases, eventually reaching a tipping point at which the sound becomes uncontrollable and diverges like circles on water, shattering our ideas about the structure of the cosmic order (after all, the word κόσμος (cosmos) is translated precisely as “order” from ancient Greek). The World, like The Universe, is dynamic, order is a myth, and everything we see around us is just an unknown twighlight.

For full submersion, we recommend using headphones.
